Linda Booth Sweeney

Linda is a whole-systems learning pioneer, author and founder of Toggle Labs. Through Toggle Labs, she creates experiential learn/do opportunities to improve our ability to see, understand and work with interdependent systems. 

Linda works with a variety of organizations to supports systems change on complex issues such as climate change, food system resilience, childhood obesity, sectarian conflict and sustainable production/consumption and supply chains. She is currently leading 15 foundations through a three-year learning collaborative focused on Systems Understanding for Social Impact (SUSI). Tapping into the transformative potential of teens and young adults, Linda is also excited to be working in partnership with Sparkshare to develop a Youth Leading Systems Change hub. 

Linda is the author of The Systems Thinking Playbook (co-authored with Dennis Meadows), Connected Wisdom: Living Stories about Living Systems, When a Butterfly Sneezes and the Climate Change Playbook (Chelsea Green, 2016). She works with a variety of organizations including Bridgespan, General Mills, Cargill, WGBH/PBS, Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition, and Beyond Conflict.  She especially enjoys her works as visiting faculty member, most recently to U.C. Berkeley Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Bridgewater State, Babson College, and OSR/Bainbridge masters program.

Linda has a second career as an award-winning children’s book author.  Readers familiar her work in systems thinking and climate change will recognize the common themes of nature and weather that are artfully woven throughout the poetry in beautifully illustrated children’s books including When the Wind Blows (Putnam 2015) and When the Snow Falls (Putnam, 2017) and Monument Maker: Daniel Chester French and the Lincoln Memorial (Tilbury House, 2019).   Linda holds her doctorate from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and lives outside of Boston with her family.  She is a yoga enthusiast, an avid hiker and ukulele player.  (For more information, see:  www.lindaboothsweeney.net (systems), www.lindaboothsweeney.com (children’s books).
